Students enrolling in the Applied Food Studies major with the Japanese Cuisine: A Study of Tradition, Flavor and Culture should work with their advisor to select the proper mix of courses that both meet the graduation requirements of the degree and align with their academic goals and career aspirations. Students choose either the Culinary Arts focus or the Baking and Pastry Arts focus. The basic requirements follow.

Culinary Arts Focus:
Culinary Arts Requirements (54 credits)
AND Liberal Arts Courses at the 100 and 200 Level (9 credits)
Baking and Pastry Arts Focus:
Baking and Pastry Arts Requirements (55.5 credits)
AND Liberal Arts Courses at the 100 and 200 level (7.5 credits)
